André Sornay, France (1902-2000).
André Sornay joined Lyon Art School before taking over the family business after the death of his father in 1919. He then noted for furniture production lines influenced by the Bauhaus and De Stijl movement, for whom the synthesis of art and architecture is a lifelong quest. As such, Sornay s'nscrit in this line of architects, artists and designers who wish to develop new forms, perfectly suited to modern life. The creations of André Sornay are characterized by clean, geometric lines, harmonious proportions and functional. While in 1925, the International Arts Decoratifs et Industriels Modernes Exhibition (International Industry Fair and Modern Decorative Arts), his work does not seem to be fully recognized, it is truly part of the fifties and sixty he reached the consecration, especially its deemed revolutionary assembly techniques.
