Victor Vasarely, born Győző Vásárhelyi April 9, 1906 in Pécs (Hungary) and died on 15
March 1997 in Paris, is a Hungarian artist, naturalized French in 1961 recognized
as the father of optical art.

as the father of optical art.
Victor Vasarely began studying medicine, he stops after three years.
He became interested in and studied at the Bauhaus Műhely Budapest 1928-1930.
In 1930, he moved to Paris4 where he started as a graphic artist in agencies
advertising as Havas, Draeger, Devambez. There he made his first
major work Zebra today considered the first work in the genre op art.
For the next two decades, Vasarely developed his own art style
geometric abstract, working in various materials but using a number
minimum of shapes and colors.
Christ and Saint Pierre are among the few religious works of the artist
are exposed in the crypt of the cathedral of Evry. Vasarely also designed
the 25 windows of the ecumenical Church of St. Francis of Assisi in Port Grimaud, Var.
Vasarely died at the approach of its 91 years.
